FRENCH DOC GETS A NAME Julie Gerisch announced today that her previously untitled France-based 447th BG World War II documentary has a name. Souvenir will be the second TPF project centering on the 8th Air Force’s 447th Bomb Group. The film, which was shot in two locations outside Paris in 2005, follows veterans on a pilgrimage to France where they visit two 447th plane crash sites. The documentary focuses on the dedicated groups of French citizens who organize each year to hold ceremonies remembering the veterans who died at the respective sites. The film also features an interview with an eyewitness of one of the crashes, who recounts the horror of the plane falling from the sky and the bloody aftermath of the crash site in his then German-occupied French village. A release date for the film has not been set for the film, which Gerisch says will be released directly to DVD. |

True Perspective Films has signed a nationwide distribution deal with Historic Aviation, a division of Historic Sales, to distribute Though the Heavens Fall on DVD.
"We're excited about the relationship with Historic Sales and bringing the film to new audiences," said TPF's Julie Gerisch.
Historic Sales is the nation's leading retailer of World War II gifts and media. The company is comprised of four retail divisions; Historic Aviation, Military Issue, Civil War Standard and Historic Rail. The company sells through online stores and mail order.
Though the Heavens Fall will continue to be sold by mail order through True Perspective Films, but the web site now encourages customers to purchase the film on the Historic Aviation web site (see Now Playing page). |

Alan Cook, the 447th Bomb Group veteran whose image appears on the movie poster and DVD cover of Though the Heavens Fall, died July 3, 2006. The film's poster image is a composite of three photographs including a vintage photo of Cook peering out the window of a B-17. Though the Heavens Fall Co-Producer David Warren created the image, and suggested using Cook's photo. "The image is striking," says the film's director, Julie Gerisch. "I am grateful Alan allowed us to use his image, and that his face is now synonymous with the group. I am saddened that I never had the chance to meet him in person and wish his family well." Cook's biography and military achievements will appear in an upcoming issue of the 447th Bomb Group Association newsletter. |

True Perspective Films founder Julie Gerisch announced Friday that company plans to release Though the Heavens Fall on DVD on July 13, 2006. The release will coincide with a special screening of the film at the 447th Bomb Group Reunion. The price of the DVD has not yet been set, but is expected to be $20-25 per copy. A limited number of veteran-autographed copies will also be made available at the launch. Efforts to release the film in July may push back the director's next project, Kissing God. "A lot of things have to happen before the launch of the DVD. All our efforts our focused on (Fall) for the time being." Anyone interested in pre-ordering the DVD or ordering it when it becomes available should register on the True Perspective Films website (www.trueperspectivefilms.com). Registered users will be notified in advance of pre-order and sale dates. Registered members may also be eligible to receive discounts and promotions not available to non-registered users. |
