Though the Heavens Fall documents the men and missions of the 447th Bombardment Group who flew 258 combat missions aboard B-17s in the skies over Europe as part of the Mighty Eighth Air Force during World War II.

The film follows a group of 447th veterans as they wander back into the fog of war.  The men recounting their most memorable combat missions and relive the joy of V-E Day and their triumphant return home on the 4th of July in 1945.

The men explore the physical and emotional tolls of their combat experience, and the ghosts that continue to haunt them.

They celebrate their present-day brotherhood, and discuss the positive ways in which their military experience impacted and shaped their lives.

The veterans’ inspirational stories are representative of the 350,000 men who served in the 8th Air Force, and are woven with common threads that speak to veterans of any generation.  Their stories paint a portrait of courage beyond history, adding a new dimension to our understanding of their wartime experience and insight into the lonely hearts of heroes.
